On March 25, UGSPN held a public discussion on the topic: “The School of the Nation and the Idea of the West in the Georgian Intellectual Space.”
The event was dedicated to Oliver Reisner’s book, “The School of the Georgian Nation.”
The discussion explored the history of the formation and activities of the Society for the Spreading of Literacy among Georgians, as well as the ways in which education, cultural initiatives, and public engagement became important instruments for strengthening and disseminating the national idea.
The conversation also addressed the connection between the national education project and the early stages of the Georgian national movement in relation to interpretations of the idea of the West in the Georgian intellectual space.
