“The Moscow Treaty of May 7, 1920: International Legal Significance and Lessons for Today’s Georgia.”

On May 11, UGSPN held a public discussion titled: “The Moscow Treaty of May 7, 1920: International Legal Significance and Lessons for Today’s Georgia.”

The discussion addressed the historical context of the treaty, including the internal and external challenges facing the Democratic Republic of Georgia, Soviet Russia’s interests in the South Caucasus, and the political environment in which Georgian diplomacy was striving for international recognition and the consolidation of state independence. Participants also discussed the significance of the treaty in the context of contemporary Russia–Georgia relations, state sovereignty, and international law.
