Thornike Gordadze is professor at Paris Institute of Political Studies and Associate Fellow at Jacques Delors Foundation.
He was Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS, London), where he served as director of Statecraft and Influence Networks program.
From 2014 to 2020 Gordadze was Senior Advisor for Research and Education at the French Institute for Higher National Defense Studies in Paris.
From July 2010 to October 2012, he served as Georgia’s deputy Minister of Foreign affairs and later as Georgia’s State Minister
for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration. He negotiated the EU–Georgia Association Agreement, and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Treaty as Georgia’s chief negotiator.
Thornike Gordadze worked as head of a research unit at the French Institute of Anatolian Studies, Istanbul from 2006 to 2010.
Thornike holds a PhD in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris. In 2002–03, he was a fellow
at Yale University’s Center for International and Area Studies. He has authored numerous
articles and book chapters on post-communist Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union,
and has lectured on international relations, identity politics and violence in Soviet successor
states, as well as security and democracy in Europe’s eastern neighbourhood.
