Nino Gozalishvili is a PhD candidate at Central European University (CEU) pursuing Nationalism Studies and Comparative History joint doctoral program. She is leading the Nationalism and Ethnicity Studies Center at the University of Georgia. Nino’s research areas include post-Socialist political transformations and contemporary history of nationalism and national-populism in CEE, focusing on Georgia.
Nino holds an MA degree in Nationalism Studies from CEU and BA in International Relations from Tbilisi State University (TSU). In academic years of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 , Nino was a visiting research fellow at the University of Edinburgh and the Center for Eastern European History at the University of Zurich. Since 2019, Nino has been a lecturer and TA at the Central European University (CEU) and a visiting lecturer at Ilia State University, Free University in Tbilisi and the University of Georgia. Over the years of 2020-2022 Nino served as a researcher at the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI). Nino’s publications deal with the Soviet history of Georgia, the issues of right-wing populism, democratization and disinformation, as well as the trends in soft power policies deployed towards Georgia.
